The Port of Palacios is located 16 miles off the GIWW, at the mouth of the Palacios Boat Channel. It is situated on Tres Palacios Bay, an inlet of Matagorda Bay.

From the intercoastal waterway, westbound:

After Oyster Lake (and past Palacios Pt) turn into the Intracoastal Waterway Alternate Channel at Buoy #29 on an approximate course of 234 degrees magnetic.

Follow the channel for approximately 1 nautical mile then turn north into Palacios Channel just before Buoy #5 on an approximate course of 338 degrees magnetic.

Follow the Palacios Channel all the way into the Port of Palacios.
