A bay shrimping boat slips between the large dredging vessel and barges as it returns home to the Port of Palacios. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers authorized the biennial dredging of the Palacios Channel on schedule this year and the work was completed by Mike Hooks Dredging Co., Inc. The Palacios Channel is the vital waterway that connects the Port of Palacios to the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway.
